About Me

Hello there, I'm Criss Chaney, an American painter in Melbourne, Australia. I find inspiration in the layered city walls of Melbourne and the quiet strength of the women in my life. Utilising various collage and mark making techniques, I aim to bring these two elements together.

Originally trained as a glass artist in the UK, I came to painting after a 7-year hiatus travelling the world. As an international artist, I've exhibited in many countries, including a solo show in Austria. Now I paint in my home studio, creating detailed and multi layered portraits.

What's it All About?

My art is my attempt to grasp what is going on in my own subconscious and is deeply personal, often incorporating sections of my own journals. When I'm not in the studio, you'll find me travelling or exploring the great outdoors, whether it's on a snowboard or a mountain bike.

Art for Trees

Being a nature lover, I also partner with Sprout and Eden Reforestation Projects to support green initiatives. Each artwork sold plants a tree.
